K-pop idol pleads guilty to marijuana charges

A member of K-pop boy band DMTN, formerly Dalmatian, has admitted to using and arranging the sale of marijuana in Korea after being  accused of smoking and aiding in the sale of marijuana, a prohibited drug in Korea, from 2012 to 2013 in violation of the Act of the Control of Narcotics.

DMTN member Daniel (real name Daniel Choi) was indicted without detention last month on the charges. The agency said Daniel admits the charges.

"Daniel admitted to his charges, and showed a willingness to cooperate fully with police and prosecution so that he would be a help to the investigation. He feels remorse over the crime he has so rashly committed, and is regretting his actions. He hasn′t been given a final, legal decision on his charges yet, but we believe he will have no excuse to give for his faults," the agency reported.

With his guilty plea, Daniel may face lesser punishment. The second hearing will be held this month.
