The 2013 Korea Festival in ASEAN is Now in Manila #PHevents

To strengthen ASEAN-Korean relations, The Korea Foundation, in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Metropolitan Museum in Manila, University of the Philippines, and Korean Cultural Center is holding the Philippine leg of Korea Festival in ASEAN from June 3 to August 23.

The 2013 Korea Festival in ASEAN program will be mounted on several ASEAN-member countries, including Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

On June 3, Ensemble SINAWI, a traditional and fusion musical group, performed traditional and fusion-style Korean music at the CCP Little Theater, using their native musical instruments such as the bamboo flute, zither and the bowed zither.

Some of the music they performed include the traditional folk songs "Song of Cold Rain" and "Arirang."

On June 4, Seoul Chamber Society, composed of acclaimed soloists will take the center stage and perform classical and contemporary music at the CCP Little Theater.

Ending the performance series of the Korea Festival, Eunju SHIN Dance Company and the EDx2 Dance Company will be performing traditional and contemporary Korean dance on June 7, also at CCP Little Theater.

The University of the Philippines will be hosting the Korea Festival Lecture series on August 1, 2013, which will discuss Korea-related topics intended for specialists, local journalists and the general public.

Also happening on August 1, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila will be hosting an exhibit of National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, which will feature a collection of print works that displays the development of printmaking in Korea.

Established in 1991, the Korea Foundation helps to promote awarness and understanding about Korea by strengthening goodwill and its friendship with the international community.

The Korea Foundation also aims to introduce different aspects of Korea's culture and the arts to improve understanding and cooperation with other countries.
